Stroke

We can help you in the acute or later stages of your stroke recovery. If you have weakness, sensory issues, balance loss, reduced co-ordination, spasticity, pain, dizziness, or other visual deficits we can tailor a specific programme to you. We utilise electrical muscle stimulation, TENs therapy, taping, mirror box therapy, Constraint induced movement therapy (CIMT), visual restorative training (VRT) and more.

Parkinson’s

If you have difficulties with your walking, turning and general stiffness and rigidity then we can help improve your movement and mobility. We can utilise multiple techniques to help you, such as, amplitude training, cued exercise, resistance training, gait and mobility re-education and more.

Guillain-Barre Syndrome

If you have returned home following diagnosis of Guillain-Barre Syndrome then we can help you regain strength in your respiratory muscles, core and limbs to help you on your recovery journey. We will utilise breathing techniques, strength and resistance training, gait re-education, TENs therapy and electrical muscle stimulation where appropriate.

Multiple Sclerosis

If you have recently been diagnosed or been living with M.S for a number of years then we can help. We will assess you and make a specialised plan that helps you. We can use techniques to help with muscle stiffness, pain, fatigue management, posture correction and gait and balance re-training.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)

We have vast experience in helping those diagnosed with FND. We can utilise techniques such as attentional shift strategies, graded exercises and task specific training to help you on your way to recovery. FND can be linked to mental stresses and anxieties which we can also help explore further with you.

Vestibular & Balance Conditions

Physiotherapy plays a vital role in our brains balance centre - the vestibular system. Our expert physio will carry out a comprehensive assessment to identify the underlying cause of vestibular symptoms so that we can develop a tailored treatment plan for you. There are a range of different options depending upon the cause of the symptoms

Post operation or Hospital admission

If you have recently returned home from hospital following an operation or acute illness and have lost strength and independence - then we can assess your needs and develop a specific programme to help you get back to what you want to do. We can set you up with your own exercise programme alongside helping you to complete your normal daily activities - this might be getting back upstairs, getting out into the garden, into the shower or in a car - whatever you need to get back to your normal self we can help.

Falls Prevention

If you or a family member is having recurrent falls or is at risk of falling then we will be able to assess the most likely cause and develop a treatment programme to help with this. We will carry out a holistic assessment looking into all risk factors such as medication interactions, environmental hazards, visual and cognitive impairment. We will utilise balance training with gait education and strengthening where needed to improve overall safety and mobility.
